GEAR CLEANING FAQ

Frequently asked questions on HydraPak gear cleaning products.

Rinse the reservoir with mild soap and warm water, then hang it upside down to dry completely. For a deep clean, reverse the reservoir inside out and scrub it, or fill it with warm water and a Bottle Bright tablet – one tablet or two for 3L and larger – let it sit 15 to 30 minutes, and rinse. HydraPak reservoirs are also top-rack dishwasher safe.

Soak the reservoir with a Bottle Bright tablet, scrub the interior and the tube with a brush, then rinse and dry completely. Prevention is the real fix: always dry the reservoir fully after use, and in humid climates, store it clean and empty in the freezer or a dry, cool space to stop mold before it starts.

Disconnect the tube and scrub it with a tube brush, warm water, and mild soap, then rinse. For the bite valve, pull it off the tube, separate the silicone sheath from the valve post, and clean both with a small brush or by soaking in a Bottle Bright solution in a bowl. Dry every part fully before reassembling.

Bottle Bright is a cleaning tablet that dissolves into effervescent bubbles to lift dirt, stains, and odor from reservoirs, flasks, and bottles with no scrubbing. The tablets are readily biodegradable and chlorine-free. Use one tablet per liter of water; the larger Gear Cleaning Tablets use one per three liters.

It is best to rinse and dry after every use, and deep-clean whenever you have used anything other than plain water, such as drink mix or electrolytes, to prevent residue and grime. Frequent light cleaning prevents the buildup that makes deep cleaning harder later.
